Honoring Your Spiritual Archetypes for a Long Lasting Marriage

There are two universal spiritual archetypes in every relationship; the Divine Feminine and the Sacred Masculine. These two MUST exist in creating a loving, cohesive relationship. The Divine Feminine represents nurturing, intuitiveness, creativity, and receptive energies. It embodies qualities like compassion, emotional depth, and interconnectedness. It is the complimentary force to the Sacred Masculine which is characterized by strength, integrity and honor. The Sacred Masculine embodies order, protection, and connection.

When a relationship involves partners fully embodying their Divine Feminine and Sacred Masculine, true balance naturally unfolds. It is essential to honor and remain grounded in our respective roles, which beautifully complement and support one another. The Masculine watches the universe; the Feminine is the universe. Inside the Masculine is God as witness; the Feminine is God as presence. Each alone is incomplete.

The Feminine alone is divine substance without self-awareness. The Masculine alone looks out at emptiness, seeking meaning without beauty—direction without purpose. When the Masculine truly witnesses the Feminine, she feels seen and known. That loving gaze lets her recognize her beauty and divinity. Each moment of witness opens her more to this union that was always there but unseen. At the same time, the Masculine, seeing the Feminine’s beauty and truth, is moved and his heart opened. He is then able to discover love, purpose, and meaning through seeing love itself.

In Chinese philosophy, Yin and Yang represent complementary, opposite, and deeply interconnected energies, with Yin typically symbolizing feminine, passive, and receptive traits (dark, cold, and associated with rest), and Yang representing masculine, active, and assertive qualities (light, hot, and connected with action). Although every individual, regardless of gender, embodies both Divine Feminine and Sacred Masculine qualities as well as Yin and Yang energies, it’s important not to allow the role that doesn’t truly fit you to take over or dominate your natural balance in the relationship.

When the boundaries between our individual roles in a relationship become blurred and confused, it can have a significant impact and help explain why the divorce rate is currently higher than ever. Many people today are not living in accordance with traditional or appropriate gender roles, which can create tension, misunderstandings, and instability within relationships. Even in same sex relationships, the Divine Feminine and Sacred Masculine must be present for the relationship to be harmonious.
